Together, every three months, we'll pause, step back, and determine what is essential in our work and creative lives—and how it fits into our whole lives as well.

Since the beginning of my writing career in 2009, I have written fifteen books. Each of them was its own project. Some of these projects were easy and joyful. Others were arduous. Some were exhilarating and deeply fulfilling. Some had me discouraged for months.
Likewise, my writing practice is always in flux. Sometimes steady, sometimes on hold. But always, I find that when I allow myself time for deep introspection and the examination of what I'm trying to make and how I want to make it, I have breakthroughs. I find myself more aware of what's getting in my way and more connected to my intuition.
I offer Projects & Practice not as an expert on productivity but as someone who has seen many complicated projects through completion all the same. As someone who loves thinking about how discipline and intuition and creativity intertwine. As someone who simultaneously resists and craves systems and routines. And as someone who believes that a life well lived is one that involves nurturing creativity and making things.
In the past, I've offered this class as a one-time New Year's workshop. Now, in the spirit of iteration and evolution—and with the knowledge that our days and our projects rarely unfold quite as we imagine they will—it includes four two-hour meetings* held on January 3rd, April 11th, July 11th, and October 3rd, 2026, at 9am PT/noon ET. All meetings will be recorded and available for replay in case you can't make it live or want to revisit the material.
Four two-hour gatherings over Zoom, spaced out over the year. These sessions will feel spacious and unhurried. I will lead you through guided reflections; introduce strategies for establishing momentum in creative projects; and explore your current questions and challenges.
Clarity of vision. Awareness of time and progress. Creative fulfillment and growth. These are the core focuses of the class. Everything we do in Projects & Practice is designed to hone and deepen our relationship to our creative practice and work.
Four letters, delivered in between gatherings, focused on staying committed to our practice. Topics determined based on what's been guiding me that I feel could help you, too, as you maintain a practice and continue your projects. Assembled with care. Sent only to Projects & Practice participants.
We'll look at time scarcity, both real and psychological, and find ways to carve out and protect the hours we spend on our practice.
We'll reconnect with the creative questions, passions, and sources of inspiration that fill us with love for what we do.
We'll zoom out to conceptualize your projects, and zoom in to determine all the incremental steps they'll require.
We'll play with methods of documenting and tracking our progress, which is one of the most effective tools of productivity and motivation.

Unlike my other classes, Projects & Practice is all about process, planning, motivation, sustainable productivity, time management, creative vision, and intuition. There are guided exercises for reflection and cultivating and honing your project ideas, but no creative writing exercises.
I am a writer, so that's the area of creative work I know the best. Most of the examples I use throughout the class will be related to writing projects. That said, this class is not only for writers. If you are interested in applying the content and strategies toward different types of creative projects, you are very welcome to!
We'll meet over Zoom for two hours each time. The feeling of the gatherings will be spacious and introspective. There will be quiet time for guided reflections and brainstorms. It will not be a two-hour lecture! I will have different concepts and strategies to share with you each time. We will also revisit a set of questions to track your progress and development over the course of the year.
My intention for this class is to work with a large group of writers and artists who are seeking structure, strategies, and scheduled times for reflection and renewed inspiration at an affordable price. I will invite pre-submitted questions from you all and then group them into broader categories to explore during each live meeting. (If you are looking for a more personal experience, I recommend looking into my other classes!)
